Analysis: Iowa caucuses still red hot

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan 18, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- With only a day to go, the Iowa caucuses look set to provide one of the most dramatic upsets in their long history.

A Des Moines Register poll released Sunday showed Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina surging into the lead with 26 and 23 percent support of respondents, respectively. Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, who had led the field for so long, is down to third place with 20 percent, though still within striking distance of the other two.
