ATLANTIC CITY) -- Governor James E. McGreevey gave the following remarks in
his address to New Jersey League of Municipalities 88th Annual Conference
on November 20:

"It is good to be among so many friends again who are on the frontlines of
government and are reminded every day where the buck stops.

In fact, that cliche takes on even more meaning as years of recession have
left us all with fewer and fewer bucks.

Having served two tough years as Governor, and 10 years before that as a
Mayor of Woodbridge, I have some new perspectives -- and even a greater
appreciation, if that is possible -- of the short-comings of our system for
financing schools and local government.
