We report here the surprising fact that current figures from the U.S.
Department of Education show that on the whole black students are less
likely than whites to hold paying jobs while they are in college.
Last winter JBHE reported U.S. Labor Department figures that showed a small
but still significant gap in employment rates for black and white college
students of all ages. Now, new figures from the Department of Education
which are broken down by race, age, and gender give us a more complete
picture of the employment of black and white college students. According to
