TECHNOLOGY giant Agilent Technologies Inc may be looking at Asia over
the long term to boost its research and development (R and D) capabilities
in life sciences.
Its chairman, president and chief executive officer Datuk Edward W.
Barnholt said yesterday that no specific location in the region is
being considered currently.
"As time goes on, we expect we will probably make some investments,
perhaps in manufacturing capability for life sciences somewhere in Asia,"
he said during a brief stopover at Agilent's facility in Penang after
a tour of its facilities in India and Singapore.
Barnholt said Agilent wants to stabilise the "relatively immature"
