You can't pass a newsstand this week without seeing Jesus staring at you from the cover of Newsweek magazine. A torturous-looking crown of thorns sits on his head. His face and hair are covered with blood. He's looking downward and downcast. This is Jesus as portrayed in the new Mel Gibson film "The Passion of the Christ," which opens later this month.
