A Danish man held by the United States in Guantanamo Bay for two years will soon be released, Danish and U.S. officials said Thursday.
Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Parliament that the captive Dane, who has never been identified by the government, would be released according to a deal being worked out between Denmark and the United States. He did not provide any details.
An official at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen confirmed the deal.
"The U.S. and the government of Denmark have agreed that the Danish detainee currently held at Guantanamo Bay will be transferred to Danish jurisdiction," ...
