A U.S. Air Force refueling jet was forced to land at New Delhi's international airport Friday because of technical trouble, officials said.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi said the KC-10 refueling plane had flown to New Delhi with a group of F-15 fighter jets after exercises in the central Indian city of Gwalior. After the squadron took off again, the jet returned for technical reasons, the spokesman said.
An airport official speaking on condition of anonymity said that soon after takeoff the pilot noticed a "spark in one of the engines."
