WHO SAYS the dotcom bubble has burst? Just look at Nanyang Online Sdn Bhd
(NOL), the news portal of the Nanyang Press Group. Since its inception
in 2000, the company has seen its turnover grow from RM900,000 in 2001,
RM4 million in 2002 and RM6 million in 2003. Cheong Chia Chieh, NOL's 32-year-
old director and chief executive officer, forecasts a rosy turnover of
RM10 million for 2004.
What is interesting is that NOL is more than just a news portal. Using
the brand name Red Hot, NOL provides a platform for advertisers and its
2.6 million members, who are comprised of Nanyang Press readers. For the
