WA: Phone study to look at causes of childhood leukaemia

PERTH, Feb 26 AAP - What families eat is to be investigated as a possible cause of
infant leukaemia.
A major national study was launched today in a bid to unravel the mystery of what causes
acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), which affects one in 2,000 children in Australia.
As part of the Perth-based research, children with the disease, and a random sample
of healthy youngsters from around Australia, will be questioned about their diets.
Chemical exposure and genetic factors will also taken into account.
