Poll: Grade school students like Kerry

NEW YORK, Mar 02, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- If it were up to elementary school students, John Kerry would be the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2004 election, a non-scientific survey says.

The front-runner from Massachusetts leads in the Scholastic News Online Poll of first-through-eighth-graders with 37 percent, compared with just 16 percent for North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, who was running a distant fourth.

New York activist Al Sharpton was second with 26 percent and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich third with 21 percent.
