GENERATION 1: 1960s to 1970s Shopping in the old days in Kuala Lumpur and in the rest of the country meant going to two-storey pre- World War II shophouses in the main shopping precincts. In the case of KL, these were at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (then called Batu Road), Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Petaling and Jalan Sultan.
The "shopping centre" of sorts that first existed during those days was Robinson's which was more a departmental store. Emporiums existed alongside this shopping institution and they provided an air- conditioned environment for shopping comfort but little else. There were no designated ...
