It's been quite a season at Manhattan Theatre Club, one of America's most prominent nonprofit companies.
A joyous maiden year was anticipated at MTC's new Broadway home, the handsomely renovated Biltmore Theatre. Instead, the theater, which originated such Tony winners as "Proof," "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Love! Valour! Compassion!" has been mired in high drama, on and offstage.
On stage, there were dismissive reviews for the first two shows at the Biltmore, Richard Greenberg's "The Violet Hour" and "Drowning Crow" by Regina Taylor. The notices were especially harsh for "Drowning Crow," Taylor's modern-day version ...
