I RECENTLY visited some kampungs in Kudat, Menggatal, Keningau and Sook in Sabah.

Although I was brought up in a kampung, I was totally unprepared to see the same living conditions that I saw and experienced more than 30 years ago all over again in this century.
Bone-shaking gravel roads that are most treacherous to drive on especially in the rainy season, lack of power supply and running water bespoke the stark Third World living conditions in these kampungs.
