CRIK: Cairns torments South Africa as New Zealand fight back

WELLINGTON, March 26 AFP - All-rounder Chris Cairns continued to torment South Africa
as New Zealand recovered from a bumbling start to be 6-248 at the end of the opening day's
play in the third and final cricket Test here today.

Striding to the wicket with New Zealand at 5-163, Cairns joined Brendon McCullum in
an entertaining 85-run partnership, which ended with McCullum trapped leg before wicket
for 55 by Shaun Pollock on the penultimate ball of the day.

But Cairns proved immovable, backing up from his last Test 158 to be unbeaten on 60
from 72 balls.
