History Channel apologizes for JFK film
NEW YORK, Apr 02, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The History Channel is apologizing for airing "The Guilty Men," a controversial episode in its "Men Who Killed Kennedy" television series.
The channel has apologized to its viewers and the family of former President Lyndon Johnson for suggesting Johnson may have been involved in Kennedy's death.
The channel said after speaking to independent historians and reviewing the program, it recognizes "The Guilty Men," "failed to offer viewers context and perspective, and fell short of the high standards that the network sets for itself."
