CALLED the silent killer because it does not manifest any symptoms till the damage is done, high blood pressure (hypertension) is estimated to affect 20 per cent of adults in industrialised countries and is even more prevalent in developing countries. Despite billions of dollars spent on blood pressure lowering medication, blood pressure is poorly controlled in many people.
