Milk substitute killing Chinese babies

BEIJING, Apr 20, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- The Chinese government has promised severe punishment for the manufacturers of deficient milk substitutes that have killed dozens of babies, the BBC said.

According to official media reports, up to 200 babies who were fed formula of little nutritional value were affected in the city of Fuyang in Anhui province.

Local media said some of the babies developed what doctors called "big head disease," where infants' heads appear ...
