Mexican stocks ended higher in mixed trade Tuesday, led by gains in blue chips like wireless communications carrier America Movil.
The market's key IPC index closed up 16.63 points, or 0.2 percent, at 10,663.4. Volume totaled 99.9 million shares traded worth 2.06 billion pesos.
America Movil's L shares advanced 1.2 percent to 21.43 pesos. Analysts are beginning to make projections for the company's first-quarter financial results, and expectations are high.
Rizwan Ali, an analyst with Bear Stearns, said Tuesday he expects America Movil to post net income of US$444 million for a 60 percent increase over the same quarter of 2003.
