New Zealand finance minister predicts speedy free trade deal with China

New Zealand will likely secure a free trade agreement with China soon after the two countries begin negotiations on a deal next year, the finance minister predicted Wednesday.

"We have a very good relationship with China. China frequently recalls that New Zealand was the first developed country to sign off on terms for China's accession to the World Trade Organization," Finance Minister Michael Cullen said in a prepared speech to businessmen in the city of Hamilton.
