Article: Stanford programs raise queer awareness

(The Stanford Daily) (U-WIRE) STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford University's Queer Awareness Days -- celebrating queer voluntary student organizations on campus and seeking to raise awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer issues -- began Monday and will continue until April 29.

Programs are sponsored by the LGBT Community Resources Center and include performances, art exhibitions, book readings and workshops.

Stanford has had Queer Awareness Days since 1974, when the LGBT-CRC was first established. Events have aimed to make visible the accomplishments, challenges and demands of the queer community.
