Medical study finds no long-term health damage to soldiers in chemical weapons experiments

A medical study has found no evidence of long-term health damage to soldiers who took part in chemical weapons experiments during the 1950s, Britain's Ministry of Defense said Friday.

Some veterans have complained of ill-health from the secretive experiments at the Porton Down research center in southern England, which involved exposure to low concentrations of chemical warfare agents.

But the ministry said a two-year study of 111 veterans of the tests had found no "unusual patterns of disease."
