Prime Minister Tony Blair and leaders of Sinn Fein, the Irish Republican Army-linked party, discussed the deadlock Friday in Northern Ireland's troubled peace process but reported no progress.
Afterward, Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams accused Britain of stupidity for slapping a financial penalty this week on his party in punishment for IRA activities.
"Those who think that imposing penalties or sanctions is any help in the process are either just totally and absolutely thick (stupid), don't care, have learned nothing of how this process was put together, or are not watching what is happening in the Middle East or other conflict situations," Adams said.
