The Cypriot government will work to alleviate the isolation of Turkish Cypriots and ensure they benefit from the island's accession to the European Union this week, President Tassos Papadopoulos said Sunday.

"The Greek Cypriots are not turning their backs on their Turkish Cypriot compatriots. On the contrary we shall work for a solution that will meet the hopes and aspirations of both communities," Papadopoulos told a news conference.
