Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda said Monday that Slovakia will not withdraw its troops from Iraq, amid calls from his interior minister for a discussion on how long they should remain there and some opposition voices calling for their withdrawal.

"I'm deeply convinced that it is not possible to bargain with terrorism, nor agree with it, nor accept such compromises," Dzurinda was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency TASR during a visit to the eastern Slovak city of Kosice.

"I think it is important to show strength, morals, courage, and win this fight."
