Last summer took on new meaning for the "downtown establishment" when
Felker Ward, Jr., a notable icon of local business and community service,
was elected as the Atlanta Rotary Club's first black president and chief
executive officer.
Ward, as head of the 400-plus members group, will oversee Rotary Club's
programs and goals and objectives, thereby, augmenting and enhancing the
organization's 90-year history. Ward's leadership will be used as the
Rotary Club advances its reading recovery program, an HIV/AIDS awareness
initiative, partnering with the Rotary International Club as a leading
proponent to eradicate polio and initiate a safe-drinking water plan ...
