RECENTLY, the landmark Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) has shown
that prescription eye drops that lower internal eye (intraocular) pressure
may prevent permanent vision loss in individuals with what might be
referred to as "pre-glaucoma."

An individual with this condition has an internal eye pressure higher than
normal but not yet high enough to warrant a diagnosis of glaucoma.

An estimated 3 to 6 million Americans suffer from slightly elevated
intraocular pressure which may increase one's risk of developing glaucoma,
one of the world's main causes of blindness.
