Mayor Jim Hahn last week joined community residents, elected officials,
artists and dignitaries at citywide celebrations honoring African American
contributions in the areas of art, humanities and the entertainment
industry.
"We've spent the past several weeks taking special note of the
contributions of African Americans to life here in Los Angeles," said Hahn.
"I am proud to be mayor of a city with such an amazing cultural tapestry
and I hope that all Los Angeles residents take the opportunity to share in
our rich cultural heritage."
