Fernando Gonzalez and Nicolas Massu beat Radek Stepanek and Jiri Novak in the deciding doubles match Sunday to give defending champion Chile a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic at the World Team Championship.

It was a rematch of last year's final at the clay-court event.

Gonzalez beat Stepanek 6-3, 6-4 in the opening singles match, but Novak defeated Massu 7-6 (6), 6-0. Chile then won the doubles 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

In Sunday's other match, Germany beat Spain 2-1.
