Vietnam's prime minister has ordered a new probe into alleged corruption at the country's state-owned telecommunications company, official media reported Wednesday.

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has demanded the establishment of a high-level team to re-examine state inspectors' earlier report on alleged irregularities at Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corp., or VNPT _ which controls most of the country's telecoms sector _ the Vietnam News Agency said.

The team would look into the company's equipment bidding process, its high telecom charges and its profit-sharing arrangement with Swedish telecom company Comvik, the agency said.
