Modern Art retook the lead in the stretch from long shot Dr No and won by a neck in the $500,000 SBOA-New Jersey Classic at the Meadowlands Racetrack on Saturday night.
Modern Art paced the mile in 1:50.2 in becoming only the second colt to win the Woodrow Wilson as a 2-year-old and then the New Jersey Classic the following year. The other was Die Laughing in 1991.
The victory was the third in three starts this year for Modern Art.
This one didn't come easy in a race that saw I Am A Fool, last year's 2-year-old champion, finish a disappointing ninth.
