A South Korean military delegation has gone to the Kurdish region of northern Iraq to hold discussions with regional leaders on Seoul's planned deployment of 3,600 troops, officials said Monday.
The 12-member delegation, which left Seoul late Sunday, will spend nine days in the town of Irbil, where South Korea plans to send its troops, the Defense Ministry said.
The deployment has been delayed as officials try to sort out details on the use of airports, barracks and other logistics issues.
