Taiwan marked the 15th anniversary of China's violent crackdown of the Tiananmen Square protests Friday, accusing Beijing of making little progress in protecting political freedoms and human rights since the bloody event.

Beijing has been focusing on reforming its economy while routinely jailing political and religious activists, said Chiu Tai-san, a vice chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council, responsible for Taiwan's China policy.
