Recycling Black Dollars (RBD) kicked off its 8th annual celebration of
Black Business Month last Thursday, in front of the Crenshaw Blvd. offices
of the Los Angeles Sentinel.

The Los Angeles City Council, California State Assembly and Senate
designated April as Black Business month in 1996. On April 2, the Los
Angeles City Council presented a proclamation commemorating the event.

RBD president Muhammad Nassardeen said the goal of the event is to help the
black community become more self sufficient. Lack of trust and discipline,
he says, are some of the problems the black business community is facing.
