Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke at a ceremony to present Dr. Dorothy
I. Height with the Congressional Gold Medal. The ceremony took place in the
Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol and coincided with Dr. Height's 92nd Birthday.

Height with a Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of her great service
to the nation and was the original sponsor in the Senate of the legislation
needed to award the medal. Senator Clinton introduced the legislation in
June and the bill was approved by the Congress late last year.
Representative Diane E. Watson (D-CA) sponsored the legislation in the
