NSW: NSW teachers awarded 12 per cent pay rise

SYDNEY, June 9 AAP - NSW teachers have won a 12 per cent pay rise over two years in
a decision handed down by the state's industrial arbiter today.

The full bench of the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) awarded the state's
80,000 public school teachers and 25,000 TAFE teachers an additional 6.5 per cent pay
rise, on top of an interim 5.5 per cent pay boost awarded in December.

Teachers took their claim for a 25 per cent pay rise over two years to the IRC last
year after the state government refused to budge from its six per cent offer over the
same period.
