KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - Kuala Lumpur Hospital scored a first when its urology department began offering robotic surgery services which allow patients to recover within 24 hours of an operation.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad said the services, known as da Vinci, would be conducted by a robot operated by surgeons using a computer with a three-dimensional screen.
He said the robot was particularly useful for complex surgeries such as radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer patients where the whole prostate gland needs to be removed.
