Former West Ham and England player Trevor Brooking has been awarded a knighthood in Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honors List.
Brooking, 55, who was cited for his "services to sports," holds a senior position within the Football Association and is a widely respected soccer commentator who has worked for the British Broadcasting Corp.
"This is a wonderful honor and a huge privilege. My family and I are very excited by the news," Brooking said. "My whole life has been about sport, as a footballer, as a broadcaster and as an administrator."
