The failure by EU and Asian nations to get Myanmar's military leaders to improve their human rights record is putting in doubt a series of high-level European-Asian meetings this year, including an October summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.
On Monday, the EU foreign ministers will assess how they can rescue that summit and other meetings seen as key to forging closer political and economic ties with China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asian nations.
