Slovakia's new president said Tuesday that the country's soldiers in Iraq should remain there _ at least for now.
"It is not possible to leave from Iraq from one day to the other," President Ivan Gasparovic told reporters after his first meeting as head of state with Defense Ministry officials. "I'm not for us leaving Iraq from one day to another."
Slovakia has deployed some 100 soldiers to Iraq, mostly for de-mining. Earlier this month, three soldiers were killed in Iraq, the first Slovak casualties of the campaign.
