ANGRY Sinn Fein leaders have vowed to fight financial sanctions imposed on
their party as punishment for the alleged abduction of a dissident
Republican by the IRA.
The British government, in response to a report released Tuesday by the
International Monitoring Commission, announced the withholding of Sinn
Fein's share of cash allotted to parties represented in the Assembly.
Expulsion from the Assembly, the commission said, was its preferred
punishment for Sinn Fein but because the power-sharing government is
suspended, financial sanctions were the next best option.
