Vic: Driver who nearly killed 1,800 loses licence

A gas tanker driver who narrowly avoided killing 1,800 people when his speeding truck
crashed, has been banned from driving for a year.

Thirty-four-year-old JAMIE GUNDRY lost control of a tanker carrying 43,000 litres of
Liquefied Petroleum Gas while speeding in suburban Flemington last June.

After exiting the CityLink tollway at 100 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone, GUNDRY careered
across Racecourse Road into a tree.

He missed a high-voltage fuse box by just 10 metres.
