A top Russian economic official said Friday that the situation around the embattled Yukos oil company should not affect the nation's oil exports, and the country's chief bailiff, tasked with forcing Yukos to pay a huge 99.4 billion ruble (US$3.4 billion) back tax claim, said he didn't intend to interrupt the oil giant's ability to bring oil to market.

The two officials' comments shored up the arguments of many analysts that the state is hoping for a carve-up of the company and the redistribution of its assets to new owners _ not the destruction of a cash cow for the country.
