Fed: Coalition support rises but Labor still leads

CANBERRA, July 9 AAP - Support for the federal coalition had risen in the wake of the
handover of power in Iraq, a new poll showed today.

But the Morgan Poll showed Labor remained in the lead despite its support falling two
percentage points to 43.5 per cent, while the coalition's standing rose 1.5 points to
42.5 per cent.

On a two-party preferred basis, Labor's stocks were down 2.5 points to 51.5 per cent,
while coalition support was up 2.5 points to 48.5 per cent - the highest Morgan Poll coalition
vote since November 2003.
