While the insurgency in Iraq rages on in the predominantly Sunni Muslim areas north and west of Baghdad, the situation in the Shiite cities of the south is somewhat calm. That's a big change from last spring, when militiamen loyal to cleric Moqtada al-Sadr rose up against the US occupation. NPR's Philip Reeves traveled to Najaf in the south, and he found the residents of that holy city restless and uneasy, but he also found signs of political change.
