Friday, July 16, 2004 -- A visit to a Persian deli is always an enticing experience for me. I love the sauces made of pomegranate and walnuts; the rich shallot-accented yogurt that is delightful smeared on fresh lavash flatbread; the exotic herb medleys, like the mixture of sauteed fenugreek leaves, leek chives, cilantro and parsley, ready-to-use in the popular stew called gormeh sabzi; and the fragrant sweets scented with rose water and cardamom.
