Scientific visionary Francis Crick passed away Wednesday after a battle against colon cancer. He was 88 years old. In 1953, together with James Watson, he deciphered the structure of the DNA molecule that he triumphantly claimed was `the secret of life.' And with that, the field of molecular biology and the future of genetic engineering was born.
