The Philippines takes its much-awaited turn at the center of the
horseshoe-shaped table at the Security Council as it assumes the presidency
of what is considered to be the most powerful organ of the United Nations.
Ambassador Lauro L. Baja Jr., Permanent Representative to the United
Nations, said the Philippine Mission to the United Nations is looking
forward to steering all discussions of the Security Council during the
Philippines' month-long presidency that starts on June 1, 2004.
