With a looming budgetary crisis still hanging in the wings, the most
perplexing question bouncing around the minds of political observers and
some of the mayor's key operatives is this: Can the anti-blight NTI survive
the city's fiscal quagmire?
Cynthia Bayete, assistant director of the Neighborhood Transformation
Initiative, said there would be some trimming around the program's budget.
"Last year, the city was able to fund at a $4 million dollar level," she
said. "However, for the upcoming year, funding for NTI will be $2.5
million, we are cutting the budget by $1.5 million."
