Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov has approved a contract with a French company to build a US$22 million ice palace in this desert nation, official newspapers said Wednesday.

Construction is expected to begin in November and be completed by February 2006, according to Niyazov's order which was carried by the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
