(Daily Nebraskan) (U-WIRE) LINCOLN, Neb. -- Not too long ago, a colleague forwarded me a pretty disturbing statistic.

According to a study conducted this year by the American Journalism Review, fewer than 40 percent of Americans think the media try to report without bias.

In other words, more than six of every 10 people question the ability of newspapers, television and radio to find the truth -- too high a number, in my opinion, when the country is caught in a time of such confusion and uncertainty.

And as I've found in my three years at the Daily Nebraskan, we're far from immune to the complaints. Rarely does a week go by without a phone call, letter ...
